[Happy SG50] The launch of Sing, Love

The album, 'Sing, Love' was officially launched with a special concert at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore which is located at Resorts World Sentosa.

I was able to take part in this launch all thanks to my Sweetie, who extended her invite to me. We had a blast at the concert! The 'Sing, Love' project ended on a high note and it was well received by the public too!

Singapore is celebrating her Golden Jubilee this year, and therefore the album named 'Sing, Love' was created to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday in musical style. Ruth Ling and Red Roof Records came out with an original music album with five original songs and accompanying music videos. The songs are written in a mixture of four major languages in Singapore: English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. It reflects Singapore as a multi-racial society, and each song featured in 'Sing, Love' boasts collaborations between seasoned industry veterans and new blood musicians.

I believe that this concert will mark the beginning of a deeper interest in local music and offer greater recognition for our local artistes.

The theme of the music album is 'Our Family. Our Home'. Each song bears a special interpretation of Singapore and what family and home mean to the artistes. Singapore is a point of origin and no matter where we travel, it is always returning home where we will feel a sense of peace and belonging. The little things we do everyday makes being a Singaporean unique!

Instead of a traditional CD, 'Sing, Love' is presented in a thumb-drive and an accompanying magazine.

It was nice to see both veterans and young talents from the music industry come together to present a birthday gift to Singapore as well as fellow Singaporeans.'Sing, Love' is definitely a spirit of SG50 by bringing together Singaporeans from different generations and cultures to celebrate our common identity.

We love music. We love Singapore.

Many Singaporeans who are staying overseas and the song, Come Back to You (English)by Jimmy Ye and The Sam Willows fits perfectly well. Singapore is still our homeland, a place where our identities are recognised.

Among all the song, my favourite has to be 'Simply, Love' (Mandarin) by Stephanie Sun and ShiGGa Shay. This song was composed by Liang Wern Fook and ShiGGa Shay (rap).

This song reminds me of the importance of recognizing Singapore for what it used to be a small and simplistic country, but today, a top ranking first world country. Yet at the same time, we must remember to show our humble love to one another. Always remember to appreciate what we have, as the contribution of the Pioneer Generation has made us what we are today!

'Sing, Love' marks and celebrates 50 years of Singapore's independence. These songs and music videos are shared not only with Singaporeans but with our friends from around the world.
