[Northwestern USA trip] Day 7 in Portland - Downtown Portland

Good morning, Portland, Oregon!

We wanted to explore Portland after our brekkie at the hotel café, as the hotel provide their in-house guests a pair of complimentary street-car tickets every morning when they head out for their day. Luckily for us, the street-car station is located right outside the hotel! We picked up the tickets at the reception, and we made use of them to explore Downtown Portland

Portland, Oregon is compact and easy to get around, and there is good public transportation available. The locals are friendly and there are many choices of delicious food!

First stop: Pioneer Courthouse Square

We grabbed some snacks from the food truck and hot coffee from Starbucks to relax at the Pioneer Courthouse Square, which is also known as Portland's living room.

We did some shopping at Forever 21, as they were having clearance sales on the past season's (Summer) collection. There were many items that were on sale at nothing above USD10! We obviously had to pick up a few things there. I love shopping in Portland as compared to the other states in America. The reason for this is because Oregon is a tax-free state!

It's time for lunch! We went to Jake's Famous Crawfish which is located at Downtown Portland, and it has been a a landmark in Portland for more than 127 years!

Jake's Famous Crawfish is considered one of the top ten seafood restaurants in the nation and it offers a variety of fresh fish and seafood flown in daily, making it a true Pacific Northwest statement by using fresh Northwest products and served as a Portland tradition!

Baby ordered a Jake’s Classic Draft Cocktail, while I just went for ice water!

We shared a plate of Crab Cakes, which I thought was a bit pricey. However the freshness and quality of the seafood compensated us for its price!

I had Gumbo Pot as my main course!

It was really a big surprise to us that this huge plate of Crawfish Boiler only cost us USD 11.95! What a deal!

After our lunch, we took the public bus to visit the Moda Center. Unfortunately, we visited at a time where were no NBA matches for the Portland Trail Blazers as the season had not begun. We went in to the superstore, and Baby picked up a jersey and a logo sticker!

I took a random photo outside the Moda Center where the 'Rip City' sign was. It is usually used in the context of the city's NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

On our way back to our hotel, we dropped by Trader Joe’s for some grocery and pharmacy/beauty products shopping! Stay tuned to my next post, as I reveal more interesting attractions in Portland!
