New Delhi: The central government has provided ‘Y’ type protection to Vivek Agnihotri, director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, along with Pan India under the CRPF cover, government sources said on Friday. The film, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in the 1990s, has been embroiled in controversy since its March 11 release, with both the BJP and the Opposition having conflicting views.
At a BJP parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’, saying it would be insulting. The Prime Minister said that the truth must be brought out in the right way. Has always been in favor of the nation.
‘Kashmir Files’, directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, revolves around the expulsion of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.
Opposition parties, on the other hand, have criticized the film for showing “half truth”.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has ridiculed BJP leaders for supporting ‘The Kashmir Files’ and said that if ‘The Kashmir Files’ could be shot in Kashmir, ‘Lakhimpur Files’ could also be produced. .
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupathi Bagel said that the film `The Kashmir Files’ shows half the truth and that not only Hindus but also Buddhists, Muslims and Sikhs were killed in Kashmir.
Released in theaters on March 11, the film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar and others. It revolves around the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 and is directed by renowned Vivek Agnihotri. `Tashkent Files`,` Hate Story` and `Puthen in a Traffic Jam`.
Tax exemptions have been announced for the film in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttarakhand.
